Day 10 Gift Drop đ Pinhook 10-Year Single Barrel

December 10, 2025
12 Days of Whiskey is our favorite stretch of the year at Seelbachâs. Every drop is intentional: from unique finds, special releases, and the return of some fan-favorite bottles. For 2025 we think weâve outdone ourselves. Whether youâre buying for yourself or checking someone off your list, this lineup has something for everyone.
Â
This next drop is a small restock of one of our favorites of the year, The Pinhook 10-Year Vertical, as well as our Vertical 10-yr single barrel.Â
Â

2023's release of the 8-year Pinhook Bourbon Vertical was one of my Top 3 accessible bourbons of the year. The 10-year may be even better. Interest has only grown as the series approaches double-digit age statements. Whether youâve been a longtime Pinhook fan or waiting for the right moment to jump in, this 10-year Vertical Bourbon may be the best Pinhook release yet.
Â
From within the Pinhook Vertical Series is a single barrel program, and every year Seelbach's is allowed to select a barrel from the corresponding Vertical age statement. As these get older the selection gets more and more difficult, but here we have our 10-year selection.
Â
Pinhook isnât bound by a set flavor profile or proof, only by the ethos of producing the best whiskey each vintage. The Bourbon Vertical Series offers a rare chance to explore how age shapes whiskey. Weâre following 1,350 MGP barrels as they mature from 4 to 12 years, watching the arc of flavors develop. This 10-Year single barrel bourbon is the 7th vintage in that series. Distilled at MGP in Indiana, and aged, blended, and bottled at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, KY, it was crafted under the direction of Pinhook Master Blender Sean Josephs.
Â
The nose is vanilla pudding pop through and through, with a soft kiss of tropical fruit cocktail, orange cream soda, and balanced sweet oak as it opens up.
Â
The palate is just as creamy as the nose, leading first with that orange cream soda and growing into more prominent spiced brown sugar and well-complementing oak. A tiny touch of white pepper appears mid-sip, always kept in check by sweet oak and cherry cordial ice cream that continue to grow richer as you go.
Â
The finish is plush and creamy, reminding me of what I love about the 10-year blend but with a bit more intensity. Sweet tobacco, caramel, and a Neapolitan ice cream sandwich carry well into a long finish, where a ribbon of spiced citrus lingers.
Â
We also sat down with Sean for one of our Seelbach's Weekly Review videos where he shares insights on his new blending approach for this 10-year bourbon.
