We know. We’ve talked before about “celebrity” whiskeys and bottles tied to movies and television shows. But when one comes through that we think people would genuinely be into, we have to talk about it. That goes for the show, as well as the whiskey itself.
(And please, no spoilers in the replies. I’m still on Season 3.)
Peaky Blinders Kentucky Straight Bourbon brings together the worlds of Bourbon and Irish whiskey within the gritty universe of the show. Distilled in Kentucky and aged for a minimum of four years, the Bourbon is finished with Irish whiskey-soaked oak staves, adding another layer of complexity and a profile that stands apart from the typical everyday pour. It is the first premium spirit released in the Peaky Blinders range by Barrel Global.
To our delight, it works really well, especially if you’re looking for an accessible new go-to with something a little different going on. It also earned 97 points, Double Gold, and a Best in Show finalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Shelby fan or not, this is a bottle worth a look.
By order of the Peaky Blinders.
Maraschino cherry juice, vanilla custard, candied cashews, honey, and a mix of dried fruits lead on the nose.
The palate drinks rich for the proof, giving way to coating cherry juice, dark chocolate, well-seasoned oak, and dark toffee. It’s lightly perfumed, with more candied fruits emerging alongside leather and vanilla-kissed oak.
The finish adds a twist of spice but stays balanced and rich, with dark caramel, roasted almonds, dried cherries, sweet oak, and just a whisper of smoke.
