Worthy Park distillery holds the first ever record of rum production in Jamaica and closed its doors in the 1950’s. In 2005, Worthy Park decided to begin rum production again and constructed a new, state-of-the-art distillery. This Rum is part of the first distillation batch rolling off the production line.
Non-chill filtered, Worthy Park 2005 was aged for 10 years in old bourbon casks in a tropical climate and bottled at a cask strength of 57.8% ABV.
TASTING NOTES:
Incredibly sweet to start, with barley sugar, candy necklaces, chalky Refreshers and butter mints joined by floral touches and some banana. Citrus and more mintiness starts to peek out from behind the citrus after a few minutes – candied lemon and Polo mints.
PALATE
Green and minty to start, with a rich and oily texture. Sweet banana and cream builds, along with mouthwatering citrus and apple notes, and a backbone of spice and liquorice.
FINISH
Herbal mint and sweet banana slowly fade to leave some spice and lingering orchard fruit.
COMMENT
Intensely sweet on the nose but very well-balanced on the palate, this shows off the more herbal and complex end of white rum.
